Introducing the iLEAD AV Exploration Parent/Caregiver Spotlight Series: Featuring Jenny
At iLEAD AV Exploration, we recognize the incredible dedication of our parents and caregivers. We’re thrilled to shine a light on one of our remarkable parents, Jenny! A dedicated mother of four, Jenny embodies the spirit of lifelong learning and servant leadership. Let’s get to know Jenny!
Tell us a little about yourself and your family.
My husband and I have four wonderful children under the age of 10. Our days are usually long, busy, messy, loud, yet very fun and beautiful. I am a lifelong learner and am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to teach my children and to guide and support them as they continue to grow in servant leadership. My family enjoys Friday popcorn movie nights, game nights, community outreach, family gatherings, camping, park days, and lazy Saturdays.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the iLEAD AV Exploration community?
I love meeting and developing relationships with other families in the program, and I’m grateful that my children are forming bonds with their iLEAD AV Exploration school friends. I also enjoy working closely with some of the most authentic, compassionate, and creative educators I have ever met. Our director and educational facilitators have always shown great care for my children and their growth.
How do you support your learner’s education at home?
I support my children’s education at home by having fun with them and learning alongside them. I seek to focus our academic time on hands-on activities and experiments, and I enlist the help and participation of others (it takes a village!). I approach homeschooling as a way of life, rather than reducing it to simply doing school assignments at our house.
What are some of your favorite learning moments with your child?
My favorite learning moments are when I see my children get excited about learning something new, when I see evidence of how much they are growing, and especially when they teach me something new!
What advice would you give to other parents supporting their child’s education?
Love your children and enjoy them; these are ‘the good old days’! Include others in your homeschooling, such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc; family and community are invaluable.
We are so glad Jenny’s family is part of our iLEAD AV Exploration community! Stay tuned for more inspiring stories in our Parent/Caregiver Spotlight Series!
