Message from the Director

Hello Parents,

A reminder that this Thursday, September 19th, is a minimum day. Learners here after 1 p.m. will go into the Extended Care program. Extended Care is $3 per hour per learner, and ends at 5:30 p.m.

MAP testing will continue this week.

ILPs have begun and will continue on September 19th, 20th, 27th. ILPs help the facilitators align with their learners and their academic development. Please make an appointment for you and your learner to meet with the facilitator to discuss your learner and their goals.

iLEAD Schools embraces the whole child, focusing on both social-emotional and academic skills. In lieu of the traditional parent/teacher conference, the learners, facilitators, and parents/guardians collaborate annually to create Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) to guide instruction. Everyone works together to reflect on, monitor, and make adjustments to the ILP as needed. The primary goal of the ILP is to ensure that each child reflects on their own achievements and identifies areas in which they need to improve. Therefore, each learner will be working toward attainable goals aligned to their individual development.

This week, the staff and learners are working on Habit 4: Think Win-Win. The facilitators are working with the learners on compromise in challenging situations, and focusing on problem-solving in ways that help everyone.

iLEAD Antelope Valley, a free public charter school in Lancaster, is part of the iLEAD Schools network of charter schools throughout California, the Midwest, Colorado, and Hawaii. iLEAD empowers learners to become conscientious, compassionate, and responsible citizens of the world, and inspires them to become creative thinkers and leaders with a lifelong love of learning.
