Meet Bree Yockey, a dedicated staff member who brings a unique perspective and a wealth of experience to iLEAD AV Exploration. With a background in teaching and a decade-long personal journey with homeschooling, Bree is deeply connected to the iLEAD family. She’s an educator who understands the balance between being a supportive parent and a great teacher, making her a valuable asset to our community. Join us as we learn more about Bree’s role, her passions, and what makes her an invaluable part of the iLEAD AV Exploration team.

Please tell us about your background and how you came to be at iLEAD AV Exploration.

I started my homeschool journey a decade ago at iLEAD Lancaster. I missed workshops and teaching, so I jumped ship. Coming back to the iLEAD family at iLEAD AV Exploration is about greeting old friends and learning new facets of hybrid and independent study.

What is your role at iLEAD AV Exploration? What’s the best part about it? 

I teach online and in person, so I get the best of both worlds. My learners have very involved support from family, as they are homeschoolers.

What do you LOVE about iLEAD AV Exploration? What sets it apart from other schools?

The greatest support has been my team of coworkers. With this job, I get the best of both worlds, as I can be a good parent and a good teacher.

Are you involved in other activities (e.g. clubs, tutoring, community engagement) at iLEAD AV Exploration? If not, what are some events you enjoy at iLEAD AV Exploration?

I coach my son’s middle school ballroom dance team for a rival district. (Cue villain theme song!) I hope to build an iLEAD AV Exploration ballroom team when we have the interest and space to support my ambition.

In your opinion, what makes a great leader?

When seeking a new job, I gravitated to an administrator I knew was a great leader. She is very involved and supportive but grants the autonomy for creativity to thrive. She sets the tone of positive culture for the whole team.

There are great social-emotional learning activities/opportunities at iLEAD AV Exploration. Can you share a story about seeing learners using them in action (or yourself)?

The workshops, both in person and on Zoom, allow the students to thrive with peer interaction! I am loving seeing my learners feel safe to come out of their shells and start to play as well as learn!

What does a day in your school life look like?

I’m very grateful my team is in constant communication, as the majority of our workweek is done from home. The collaboration during workshops allows me to blend and improve my instruction style. I’m on the computer or the phone with families any moment I am not teaching.

1. I visited 13 different countries before I turned 18.
2. I was the captain of both my cheerleading and rugby teams during high school.
3. I am the mother of three amazing kids and two cats.

Bree’s dedication to fostering creativity shines through in her work. She not only brings her passion for teaching to iLEAD AV Exploration but also her commitment to building a strong community. We are so happy she is a part of our community!
