Catching Character and the 7 Habits in Action

Last week, we caught these learners exhibiting the Character Lab Traits: Self Control, Growth Mindset, Gratitude, Kindness, Purpose, and Zest!

Since the first week of school, 1st grader Chance Gordon has grown exponentially in his ability to put first things first and remain on task. He has grown to be one of the first learners to have his journal ready and waiting patiently for his classmates to join him during our daily “Word of the Day” journal writing. He listens attentively and is an active participant in group discussions. In addition, he has learned to make good choices and sit away from peers who could cause him to be distracted. I am so proud of his progress already this year and look forward to watching him grow even further as the year progresses! – Ms. Basty

Levi Crotzer, in 1st grade, has continuously shown growth, putting first things first as he is always ready to listen for instructions and encourages those around him to do so, as well. He shows kindness to his peers and has grown to have great self control during lessons. I look forward to seeing this positive behavior continue throughout the school year. – Ms. Teachout

Isaiah Smart, currently in Ms. Standley’s 5th grade class, bought me a book about my ancestors from a museum last week. Although he was not in my class last year,  he remembered my lessons on family heritage and the example I gave about myself. – Mr. Z.
