Catching Character in Action
Last week, our character focus was kindness. We define kindness as the quality of being intentionally friendly, generous, and considerate. We saw learners and parents all over campus who exhibited this quality. Here are a few examples:
Mark Paynter in 3rd grade greeted a new learner on the first day of school and decided to explain the 7 Habits at lunch time. “He’s a new learner and I wanted to tell him about the 7 habits,” Mark said.
Ronald Velasquez stopped another learner from eating the corn husk of a tamale at lunch. He said, “Don’t eat that, you have to open it to eat the tamale.”
Izaiah Appleby came to the office and asked, “May I have the basketball, please?” He was commended for his kind request.
Mr. and Mrs. Salyards donated markers, pencils, glue sticks, colored pencils, crayons, construction paper, dry-erase markers, and erasers. Due to their kindness and generosity, every classroom has additional supplies for the learners and facilitators.
