At iLEAD AV, we host Learner-Led Conferences (LLCs) to promote learner engagement, motivation, and achievement. LLCs take place March 17 and 23-24. These conferences create a purposeful way for learners to talk with adults about their learning and offer families a direct and active role in their child’s school life. These conferences are very important, as they allow for valuable conversation and reflection that you may not normally have each day.
What to Expect at Learner-Led Conferences
Learner-Led Conferences offer learners a real voice in the assessment of their learning and practice in speaking to their strengths. This will prepare them for the real-life experience of talking to potential employers. The LLC process is more of a performance than an evaluation; your learner will compile what they’ve been learning and present to you, the family member.
What Is the Role of the Family at an LLC?
Families play an important supportive role in this process. The focus of the conference is on learning and growth, not simply a show-and-tell display of work. It is a time for families to “sit beside” their children, listening to and trusting their children’s assessment of their own learning and asking good questions. Families may also work with their children to set new goals based on the discussion during the conference.
Your child’s facilitator will email you a sign-up sheet to make an appointment for the conference. We hope you will take advantage of this wonderful experience.
