2023-24 Enrollment!

You will soon receive your re-enrollment information for the 2023-24 school year via email. If you have any questions, please reach out to AdrieAnna Rodgers at 661-494-7442.

We still have a few spots available for new learners for the 2023-24 school year. Do you know anyone who would benefit from our program next year? Please invite them to come check us out! Let them know we are offering tours every Tuesday at 10 AM. They may register here to attend. We are also offering a virtual TK/K Roundup on April 24 at 6:30 PM. Click here to RSVP.

Meetup Info

We will be hosting iLEAD AV Exploration meetups for the next several weeks. We hope you and your family are able to attend! Below are the dates and details for our meetups. RSVP here so we can plan ahead. The address for each location is listed on the sign-up sheet. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to spending time with you and your families and connecting as a homeschool community!

Please note: Due to logistical issues, our LACMA trip in May is cancelled. In its place, we have a fun Color Run planned for the learners.

Thursday, April 27: Quartz Hill Library Tour at 10 AM

Learners will have the opportunity to receive a presentation from the librarian about using library resources, finding books, and the joy of reading! You can check out some library books as well!

Tuesday, May 2: Color Run at Pelona Vista Park at 10 AM

The iLEAD AV Exploration Team will be hosting our own Color Run! Learners will be splashed with different colors as they run through different areas of our course. Please dress your learners appropriately, as the colors stain and they will be very active. A white shirt works best, and they will then have their own version of a tie-dyed shirt!

Tuesday, May 9: AV Rural Museum at 10 AM

The purpose of the Antelope Valley Rural Museum is to develop a permanent historical museum for the citizens of the Antelope Valley by collecting, preserving, restoring, exhibiting, and researching facts and artifacts pertinent to its history.

This is a perfect trip, especially for 3rd graders to help them meet their local history standard. All learners are welcome to come learn about the history of the Antelope Valley through preserved artifacts and with the guidance of an experienced docent.

Message from the iLEAD AV Exploration Director

Dear iLEAD AV Exploration Families,

I hope you all enjoyed your spring break and are ready for the last stretch of the school year! We have so many exciting and important things planned for you and your children!

Amidst the fun and meetups, we also have state testing (grades 3 and up) and end-of-the-year MAP tests for all. We understand that testing isn’t fun. I don’t know anyone who likes to take tests. However, it is an important skill to learn and something everyone will encounter at some point in their lives. Testing is so important to charter schools because it is an essential piece of getting our charter renewed. We not only need to achieve at least 95% participation rate, but we also need to show growth over the last year.

We know how hard you and your kiddos have worked this year and are excited for our learners to show their growth. During the next few weeks (during synchronous instruction), your EF will present test-taking strategies and sample questions. This will equip your children with skills to use if they aren’t sure of an answer, and this will also help them become familiar with the format of the test. You can choose to have your child take the tests at our site in person the week of May 15 or virtually the week of May 26. Sign-ups will be sent home soon. Thank you for encouraging your child to do their best and to attend their synchronous instruction over the next few weeks to prepare for their tests. Thank you for helping us ensure the future of our charter!

We still have a few spots available for learners for the 2023-24 school year. Do you know anyone who would benefit from our program next year? Please invite them to come check us out! Let them know we are offering tours every Tuesday at 10 AM. They may register HERE to attend. A virtual TK/Kindergarten Round-Up will be offered on April 24 at 6:30 PM. Click HERE to RSVP.

Have a wonderful week!

With gratitude,

Terri Budke

iLEAD AV 8th Graders Soar!

iLEAD AV 8th graders took their first glider flights Saturday, April 8!

Tapping into our curiosity about flight, iLEAD Student Aerospace‘s Soaring Aeronautics project answers the question “How do things fly?” and introduces learners to the forces described by Newton and Bernoulli.

Through this project, learners use the engineering design process to fabricate and launch their own gliders, interact with a full-scale glider, learn from glider pilots about flight controls and aerodynamics, and fly a glider!

Preflight training on simulators supports the development of flight and navigation skills. The history of flight, anatomy of birds, current experimental gliders, and meteorology are woven in to extend and enhance knowledge, giving meaning to research and writing.

Special thanks to iLEAD Student Aerospace Projects and to Skylark North for hosting and guiding the learners!

iLEAD Antelope Valley Aeronautics Project POL

At iLEAD Antelope Valley, all grades (TK-8) have been immersed in aero-related projects at the same time! On April 6, their school-wide Presentation of Learning featured their beautiful work. We’re so proud of the learners for diving deep into their subjects and demonstrating their learning to our community!

Special thanks to iLEAD Student Aerospace Projects for your guidance with this exciting project!

Check Your Email for Our Survey from Panorama Education!

Dear Families,

We value your feedback! We are asking you to take a brief survey through Panorama Education to tell us about your experience with iLEAD Antelope Valley. To ensure we continue to provide high-quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for high school, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think!

Our survey began on March 15, 2023, and closes on April 21, 2023. You will be able to take the survey online at home or when you come to Learner-Led Conferences (March 23-24).

Please check your email now, including the spam folder, for a message from Panorama Education with a link to the survey.

We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses.

If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.

Message from the iLEAD AV Exploration Director

Dear iLEAD AV Exploration Families,

We are looking forward to seeing everyone this week for your LP meetings and also at the Poppy Reserve on Friday! Please be sure to sign your Learning Log Friday as soon as you get it. We have to complete our state reporting for attendance on April 7, so we have a quick turnaround to get it done. Thanks for your help.

We will see those of you who want to attend at the Poppy Reserve Friday, April 7, at 10 AM. You are able to park for free by mentioning iLEAD Charter Schools. Like last year, we will meet at the Visitor Center at 10 AM. Then you and your family can walk the trails on a self-guided tour. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. You will also want to bring water. Please ensure all your family members stay on the trails. We don’t want to step on the flowers or a snake!

Directions to the Reserve:
The Reserve is located 15 miles west of Lancaster at 15101 Lancaster Road.

  • From Highway 14: Take the Avenue I exit and head west 15 miles. Avenue I becomes Lancaster Road.
  • From I-5: Take Highway 138 east and turn right on 170th Street West. Make a left at the end, onto Lancaster Road. Follow the road two miles.

Do you know anyone who would benefit from our program next year? Please invite them to come check us out! Word of mouth is the best type of advertising. Let them know we are offering tours every Tuesday at 10 AM. They may register HERE to attend. A virtual TK/Kindergarten Round-Up will be offered on April 24 at 6:30 PM. Click HERE to RSVP.

Also just a reminder: If you haven’t completed your intent to return, we cannot guarantee your child will have a spot next year. Our lottery date (April 5) is fast approaching, and that is when we will offer spots to people from the wait list. If you have not completed your intent to return yet, please click HERE. If you have a new learner enrolling, be sure to fill out the application online HERE.

Enjoy your spring break April 10-17! We’ll look forward to seeing you when school resumes on Tuesday, April 18.

Have a wonderful week!

With gratitude,

Terri Budke
Director of North LA County Exploration
