iLEAD AV Exploration Workshops Reminders

If you have signed up for workshops, please remember the important changes we have made below:

Drop-off and pick-up will now take place in the front, main parking lot. You can pull up right outside the iLEAD AV Exploration side gate and an EF will be there to greet you and let the learners in. Please note that drop-off will be from 8:45-9:00 AM, and pick-up will be from 12:20-12:30 PM.

We will be holding separate workshops for 6th-8th graders only on Thursdays from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Please note that 6th-8th graders are still welcome to join the other workshops as well, in addition to the ones dedicated to them.

Please plan on having your child bring their school laptop to workshops. We will be using them each day during our Bookshark/Academic portion of our day. Learners will have the opportunity to log into Reading Eggs to work on individualized skills. Make sure your child knows how to log in to their computer with their username and password, or leave a Post-It with their info for us to help them.

Message from the iLEAD AV Exploration Director

Dear iLEAD AV Exploration Families,

Our Heart Challenge was a great success. Thank you for your support. We hope you and your children were able to have good discussions regarding taking care of their health and hands-only CPR.

Parenting Support Group

We are going to be offering a parenting class/support group! A group of our homeschool parents are in the process of organizing this, and more information will be sent soon. This will be a time for our parents to meet and network with each other. They will also be able to share some homeschool tips and will look at some parenting tips. We will offer this during workshop time so your kids will be busy at workshops and you can network. Watch your email for more information.

Physical Fitness Test

The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for 5th and 7th graders will be held on Friday, March 3, at 10 AM. We will hold the event at Marie Kerr Park (near the pool entrance).

Tour Time with Tina & Terri Tuesdays at Ten

Please tell your friends about our upcoming tours! Starting February 7, each Tuesday through the end of the academic year, we will host informational tours to introduce prospective families to iLEAD Antelope Valley Exploration. Families can click here to RSVP. Thanks for helping us spread the word!

With gratitude,

Terri Budke
Director of North LA County Exploration

iLEAD Antelope Valley Studio DreamUp Design Challenge 2022-23

Through the iLEAD Antelope Valley Studio DreamUp to Space Mission 2022-23 Experiment Design Challenge, iLEAD Antelope Valley Studio learners have been busy designing experiments that could be selected to be conducted on the International Space Station. During the final phase, our finalist teams created short videos pitching their ideas and the plans they developed for how, in the event that their experiment is chosen, they will use the opportunity for their school site and community outreach. Learners were required to include subject matter experts to support their experiment designs. A panel of science and space experts is reviewing their proposals and videos. The top team will have their experiment flown and conducted on the International Space Stations, targeted for May 2023.

Congratulations and best wishes to this year’s iLEAD Antelope Valley Studio DreamUp to Space Mission 2022-23 Experiment Design Challenge finalists!
